Field Work

Between 2003 and 2006 the Hungarian National Science Fund provided financial support to the geophysical data acqusition campaigns to reconstruct the Quaternary paleoenvironments of the Lake Balaton and its vicinity. Students of our department have actively participated in the field works. In 2004 teachers and students of Leeds University joined the research programme. In the framework of the project, gravity and high-resolution magnetic surveys, 2D geoelectric tomography and 1D electric soundings, land seismics and single and multi-channel water seismics were performed. The geophyisical methods were complemented with geomorphological observations and analysis of core samples of shallow boreholes.
